I have one more article here today and I will only be able to get back
to the Lib. Tues. to look for the proclamations and/or resolutions -
what ever I can find and to look for the Sac. Union articles. I also
have a friend who is in the Masons and he was telling me some of how the
ceremony would have transpired; most moving. As I understand it so far,
the remains would have been taken to the Masonic Lodge from the Capitol
[which really doesn't make sense because the Capitol is abt three blocks
closer to the cemetery - but the body would have been carried on the
shoulders of eight brethren in the Masons to the cemetery, a distance of
abt 12 blocks. I don't know, but the caring and solemnity [respect for
human life] touched me deeply. I hope that when Dale sends me more
details, that I may be able to send it to you to share with the
Rackliffe's in Me. If you contact the Rackliffe's would you mind asking
if they know what brought Mr. Rackliffe to Ca.; I mean did someone come
from Ca. to Me, and make him feel the wonder to move here? Also, would
they have anything, anecdotal, biographical, or genealogical that they
could share with me about this particular Rackliffe family. I would
really like to know if Levi was related to Louisa.
