Hi Tom,
Regis paid cash for a land patent in Michigan on April 24, 1820. It was for 80 acres.
You can get this and a copy of the original doc. signed by John Adams, president of the US.
google "Land Patent Office".
I descend from Charles' brother, Francois-Marie,son Isidore Marie, son Isidore Theophile, dau. Hermenie who married Edouard Vincelette in St. Hilaire, Rouville, my great-grandparents.
