Batavia (Illinois) Herald, June 19, 1901:
The oldest bachelor in the world, Noah Raby, has reached the remarkable age of 129 years. He is an inmate of the almshouse at New Brunswick, N.J., where he has lived or 35 years. Raby says he was born in Gates Court House, N.C., April 1, 1772. Possibly his longevity is accounted for by the Indian blood which he inherited from his full blooded redskin father, Andrew Bass. Noah bore the name of his mother, Morning Raby.
