Hi, folks- My mother's mother, Fanya Iosifovna Rabinowitz, died in childbirth at age 27 in New York in 1917. We believe she had married her husband, Moise Millstein, in New York around 1915 or 1916, -- don't know if they knew each other in their native Vilnius area (Lithuania -- but of course Wilno, Poland at that time). I'm looking for Fanya's family genealogy and especially for her childhood town --a bit of a mystery. We know nothing of her parents, any siblings, etc. We have her 1902 grammar school graduation certificate, which notes that she was the 12 years old (so, born 1890?)and attended what translates from Russian as "Yeznenski Public School, Yeznenski Township, Vilnius gubernaya". I have searched in vain for a town even close to that spelling -- can only find Yezna, aka Jieznas, Jeznas, Yeznas. Thanks for any thoughts or leads! Dave Notify Administrator about this message?
