Michael, saw your message while researching my Raabs (no relation, I think) and saw what you said about not being able to write/read German. There's a great genealogy web site that will translate for free! The site is:

This site has a wealth of info, including form letters in German! Also, they have volunteers who translate letters from English to German and vice versa--free (and quickly too--they did one for me in 30 hours). Let me know if you'd like more web addresses that would help you in your search. I've got tons. Good luck!
