Hallo Terry,

how interesting - you are looking for the family of Samuel Quitman and I am researching the Quit(t)man(n) Family History since three years.
Samuel was a son of Jacob Quitmann who emigrated 1850 from Germany to USA. At that time his children Manasse, Samuel, Philipp and Theresa still lived in Germany and came over later around 1863. His father married in Chicago a second time and they got 5 more children ( and a hughe family developed). Samuel married 13.12.1868 in Chicago Theresa Swarp and they got 8 children - and now comes the dissapointing part of the story: we do not have any more infos about there descendents.

Two years ago some of the German Quitmanns founded a Quitmann-Familyresearch-Association and we have also some members in the USA, however up to now they have been involved in other research projects and the descendents of Samuel and his brothers and sisters are still pending.

How is your relation to that family, why are you interested in the Q-history?
I would be interested to hear from you more.

Best regards Heide
