Thank you for the quick response. The only connection I have between the Pierce Quirk of Racine Co. that I am related to(born in Tipperary in 1808, died in WI 1879) and a John Quirk is that he had a son named John who must have been born in the 1840s. I think my Aunt said that Pierce had brothers that come to the US, but although I do not remember the names, I do not remember a John as one of the names of Pierce's brothers. I do not have any information about where Pierce's son John lived or died. Some of Pierce's descendents did move to South Dakota, but the ones I know of were more in central SD - not as far east as Grant County. I will paste below what I know about Pierce, if that is of any assistance. I am sorry that I cannot be more helpful. This biography appears on pages 673 in History of Racine and Kenosha Counties, Wisconsin... published by the Western Historical Co.: 1879. PIERCE QUIRK, farmer, Sec. 17; P. O. Kansasville; born in Tipperary, Ireland, in 1808; came to New York in July, 1849; to Milwaukee same year; thence to Dover; he owns 450 acres of land in Secs. 20, 21, 22. He married in Tipperary in 1828, Mary Cleary, of same parish and county, and has seven children- Bridget, Alice, Johanna, William, Michael, John, James. They attend St. Mary's Church.
