Linda Quinton The first mention of a Quinton in SC and Chester County that I have found is in the Book of Wills From Chester Co., SC, where it says “The Last Will and Testament of Samuel Quinton Deceased was produced in Court & proven by the Oaths of John Anderson & Robert Tindal Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be Recorded. WILL OF SAMUEL QUINTON: IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Samuel Quinton of the State of South Carolina & county of Chester Being Very Sick and Weak of Body Yet perfect mind and memory (thanks be to God) Calling to mind the mortality of mans Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to Die do make & ordain this my last Will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I Recommend my soul to God who gave it me and of my worldly goods I give Devise & dispose of them in the following manner and form First I give & Bequeath to Mary my Dearly Beloved Wife the one third part of that tract of Land Containing 300 Acres situated in Chester County South Carolina the said third part to be laid off at the south to have & to hold the same During her widowhood and afterwards to my Dearly Beloved Sons Samuel & Andrew Each an Equal part and the other two remaining thereas of the said tract of Land I give and Bequeath it to my Beloved sons James & John and Equal part Secondly I have and Bequeath to my Dearly Beloved Wife Mary the Black mare which I raised myself and the other to my sons Samuel and Andrew thereby I give to my Dearly Beloved Wife one cow and calf and all my Household furniture to be kept on the place for the use of the family and I do make and ordain my Dearly Beloved Wife & my son James my sole Executors of this my last will in witness whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal this sixth Day of April one thousand seaven hundred & Eighty Seaven.
