Hi, Marge: You are looking for Jean-Baptiste Quintal and probably Leocadie Labeau (or Lebeau or Labone or something like that, lol: everytime I see her name, it is spelled a different way). I give this record for confirmation: BAPTISM: Jean-Baptiste Quintal legitimate son of Jean-Baptiste & Leocadie Dubeau of Berkshire, baptised 28 Sep 1845 age 8 months, Godparents Joseph Lapointe & Isabell Dufault. (St. Georges d'Henryville PQ). I looked through the marriages for St. Georges d'Henryville PQ and did not see the Jean-Baptiste and Leocadie marriage, or any prior marriage of Jean-Baptiste. There appear to have been a number of Quintals living in Verchennes and Boucherville, Quebec. I have seen a couple of Jean-Baptiste baptisms circa 1795-1798 in the PDRH and will copy them for you, if you don't mind waiting about a week. I have been trying to track down Jean-Baptiste because I think I may descend from a son Edward of his by a prior marriage. The only U.S. vital record for Edward is his 1903 death record, which identifies him as Edward Cantwell, born in Montreal, son of John, born in Montreal. I have not been able to find a marriage or birth/baptism record for Edward in the U.S. or Quebec. Some of Edward's children's records reflect the family surname as Cantell, and Edward was in Berkshire by 1860, which leads me to think he may have been Jean-Baptiste's son. I'd like to share more, if you're interested. Richard Husband
