Greetings from Belfast Ireland. The O'Quins or Quinns are primarily from the area of Co.Tyrone where there as still many hundreds. There are also some Quinns in various other parts of Ireland but Tyrone is their "homeland".Around the period of the 1847 hundreds of O'Quins or Quinns emigrated to America. Your O'Quin ancestor was initially in Ireland a Catholic so he must have changed his religion at some time.O'Quin or O'Coinne is the old Irish Gaelic spelling of the name.My wife is Quinn and I have researched the Quinn heritage.
So hope this helps.Best wishes = Michael Higgins Belfast
