Loftin Quinn, Carteret Co., NC to AR
My husband descends from Loftin Quinn, born about 1720, married Mary Canaday in Carteret Co., NC.Children were: Loftin (born about 1752); Abner Sr.(born about 1754 - died between 1810 and 1820); William L.(born about 1756); Thomas (born about 1758); and Margaret (born about 1760).Sons of Abner Quinn Sr. are thought to be: Abner, Jr. (born 1782 in Carteret Co., NC); David (born 1780-84 in Carteret Co., NC); Daniel (born 1789 in Carteret Co., NC - died 1850 in Union Co., AR); Loflin (born 1794 in Carteret Co., NC - died 1881 in Shelby Co., AL),and possibly Peter Quinn (born 1796 in Carteret Co., NC - died 1863 in Shelby Co., AL). Loflin Quinn (1794-1881) married Mary "Polly" Gould in Carteret Co., NC, in 1814 and moved to TN and then to Shelby Co., AL, where his wife's brother David Gould settled, and many of the Quinn and Gould family are buried there.Loflin's son Michael (1817-1875) was the father of another Loftin Quinn (1843-1908).In 1865, Loftin Quinn married Sarah Ann Ticer in Shelby Co., AL, and between 1867 and 1870 they moved to Grant/Saline Co., AR, and Loftin was a Baptist minister. Other children of Michael and Elizabeth Quinn were William Quinn (born 1841) died in the Civil War in Jonesboro, GA; Martha who married William Mitchell; Phebe who married John H. Anderson; and Mahala; Polly; and Bettie never married. Would be interested in talking to anyone connected to this line.
