Mildred,
The Hugh QUIN mentioned in the 1783 deed of Rutherford Co., N.C. is apparently Hugh Jr. (1763-1840), son of Hugh QUIN, Sr. (1723-1798 York S.C.).I assume that Hugh was simply a neighbor of this Martha DOUGLASS as there are no known family connections.Of the names mentioned in the two notes; the only one with an _eventual_ connection was the WILKINS.
This Martha DOUGLAS was apparently a widowto have land granted in her name ... perhaps of the James DOUGLASS of the 1782 mention?Timothy RIGS(sic), Thomas Whiteside(sic), assoc. with the 1782 sig. of James DOUGLASS appear to have been enumerated 1790 census Rutherford Co., N.C._A_ Jesse DUGLIS(sic) enumerated 1790 York, S.C. (02 02 04).
I do not believe there is any light to be shed on your DOUGLAS family by either of the two apparent unrelated QUIN(N) families of York Dist., S.C.Spartanburg Dist. QUINN's are yet another family group!
