Hello B Quinlan Found your posting of 14 Aug 2006, re Asphodel. My family settled on Lot 1 Conc 1 Douro in 1831. They moved to Lot 15 Conc 3 in Asphodel in the 1840's. My father was born on above lot in 1902. He used to talk about a Quinlan that he worked with, about the same age. My father had 2 brothers, Jack(John) and Mike, all 3 moved to Saskatchewan, only my father Pat, returned to Ontario. The original Herr family, from Ireland consisted of John Herr Sr. and his wife Margaret Mary Collins, they had 3 sons and possibly some daughters born in Ireland, I have only found information on the sons. The eldest son Michael married Margaret Kennedy in Douro, they eventually, with 13 children, settled in Iowa, Michael took out U.S. citizenship in the 1870's and changed his name to Harr.?? The younger sons remained in Asphodel. John Herr Jr. married Catherine English, they are my ggrandparents. William was married three times. Both John Jr. and William are buried in St. Paul's cemetary. The only connection I have found to the Quinlans is thru the Bolands. My grandmother was Mary Boland, daughter of John Boland Jr. and Johanna Daly. I have a family tree , as I know it, of the Herr family. My wife Nancy and I live in Ennismore. My email is mherr@persona.ca I would be interested to know if you have found any connection to the Herr family. I pulled in the tractor pull at Norwood Fair. Regards, Mike and Nancy Herr 238 Clonakilty Line Ennismore, On K0L1T0 Regards Notify Administrator about this message?
