Bobbye: Years of research on this Quimby family has lead me to believe that this James Quimby found on this one record in Sumter County Alabama was really Jonas Quimby, not James. Old records from that time period were very hard to read and also perhaps the person who took the information did not hear too good. I can look thru my records and tell you why I came to that conclusion...but I am always very interested in the information if someone will tell me why they do not believe he was really Jonas.
