Hello. I was looking up some information on the Stoltz family from Louisville Ky and came across some ships lists from Germany to Baltimore and New York with destinations for Louisville, Ky. The reson I am responding to you is that I found a John Stoltz who arrived on the ship Matador from Bremen to New York on September 26, 1840. According to the list he later married an Elizabeth Quillman, who's family also was on the ship. Her father I believe was Balth Quillman. There were plenty of lists that I printed from Jefferson County Kentucky Genforum. Most all these lists had Quillman's and Gutermuth's aboard. I had a great Aunt Emma Stoltz (also known as Aunt Ide) who married a Riley Gutermuth B: 10/29/1859. My Stoltz are mostly buried in a cemetery right outside Iroquois Park in Louisville. There are many Gutermuth's and Gagel's buried there as well as Stoltz. My mother thinks there may be some Quillman's buried there as well. Some Quillman's lived around the corner from her when she was growing up in the Pleasure Ridge area of Louisville. Hope I was some help to you. If you have any Stoltz listed somewhere let me know. I am at a dead end as to when they arrived in the United States and where they came from in Germany.
