I have the Griffith Valuation for Shanaway West,Tarbert with the name Jeremiah Quill, renting 3 pieces of land from the reps .of Lord Hallyburton.35 acres of land ,part bog,7 acres land and 2 gardens, plus a house .This would be around 1853ish.
In Tarmons,Tarbert, there is a Michael and Bridget Quill renting land from Robert Parker, about 28 acres.
Also a John Quill ,renting from Alexander Elliott,about 10 acres,plus a house.
From previous postings you will know that I have the 1901 Census for both John Q.a 75 year old widower, from Shanaway West, and a Mary Q a widow aged 60 with a daughter and grand-daughter from Tarmons West.
Looking through my papers I came across a wedding entry of a John Quill of Urlee,Lisselton, and an Ellen Callihan, she has no residence given, married at Doon Chapel ,Ballybunion on 9/2/1839.The spelling of her name was like that ,but it could be Culhane,or Callaghan today.
I want to look through the Tithe Applotment book for Tarbert,as if would give the Quills in Tarbert at an earlier date about 1838 ish.I have to go to the Library for that, maybe you have this looked at already?
Look forward to hearing from you.Ang.
