We are looking for any additional information on a James QUIGLEY, and his daughter Elizabeth QUIGLEY who married Charles Henry O'NEILL on 2 Feb 1866 in Buttevant, (County Cork, I think,) Ireland. Charles was the son of Arthur O'NEILL and was a Sarg. in the 27th Regiment of the English Army, stationed in Buttevant at the time. Elizabeth's mother is, unfortunately, not given on the marriage record, I don't know if this indicates she is deceased or just lazy record keeping (the groom's mother is also not given.) The record seems to say that the QUIGLEYs (and O'NEILLs) were members of the Protestant, Church of Ireland, and that James QUIGLEY was a clerk in [a / the?] "General Office Cork." I am not exactly sure what that means, if it was a city office or what. The 'address' given for Elizabeth (and presumably her father) was " Banachton " which I have not been able to locate anywhere, so think it must be a transcription error, an archaic spelling or a place no longer in existance. Perhaps it is a church parish designation? Elizabeth and Charles were married in St. Ann's (if I interpret the notes properly) by Rev. John P PHAIR. The witnesses were P. CONSTANTINE and Thomas GARDINER. I know there are probably more than one James with a daughter Elizabeth, but hopefully some other detail here will help narrow things down. Thanks! ~Carol Notify Administrator about this message?
