DNA Testing for Quigleys
According to the great historian of Irish Surnames, Edward MacLysaght, the QUIGLEY sept seems to have originated in Mayo in Ireland in the middle ages. I have always wondered if the various Quigleys in Ireland, the US, and around the world are, in fact, related. It might be possible to verify this through Y-chromosome testing, since the Y-chromosome is passed down pretty much intact from father to son to grandson, etc.Have any Quigley males participated in such a project?I'm thinking of doing it with one of the leading genealogy genetic testing services. The process is actually very simple and can yield very interesting results. If there are any male Quigleys out there who would be interested doing this, or who have already done it, please let me know.
Thanks,
James Quigley
