Hi Jennifer,

My great, greatgrandfather Patrick Quigley (Born :1817) had a brother named Michael (Born :1825) along with brothers Francis (Born :1820) and John (Born :1812) and sisters Mary (Born :18??) and I think a sister Jane (Born :1830). They were all from Quigley's Point in Ireland. I am still trying to find information of how and when they came over from Ireland so at this point the information is very limited. What is know is that when they came over they lived in Philadelphia, PA and owned and ran a livery stable. It sounds like there are a few common factors here. So far I have had no luck in finding any relatives of Patrick's.

Quigley's point is located in the Northern part of Ireland on the water of Lough Foyle. If you were looking at a map of Ireland and you went to the very top and center of Ireland you would see a bay area, that is Lough Foyle. If you looked closer at that Quigley's Point is on the left hand side about one third of the way up. Below is some information that I have seen on this web site.
Literal English translation ...

Carrickmaquigley = Quigley's rock

Gortaquigley = Quigley's field

I hope that helped.

Frank Quigley
