I found an obit for William McIntosh Quick - it appears he did not have a son John.
Amsterdam Evening Recorder Sat 08 Aug 1927
Died 05 Aug 1927 at the home of son Arthur L Quick in Springfield MA.Survivors Arthur L Quick of Springfield MA and Sherwood W Quick of Amsterdam, grandchildren Dorothy, Norman & Donald, burial Fairview Cemetery
Daughter Dorothy Quick d 07 Oct 1918 in Amsterdam according to obit.Survivors does not mention a father but does say mother & brothers Arthur of Springfield MA & Sherwood of this city
Evidently there was a split between Adele & William. In Jan of 1902 she was living in Amsterdam & she sued & won custody of a five year old child (presumably this was Sherwood) living with his father in Eaton's Corners (Schenectady) NY
