Hello Cousins,

I am a Quevedo from Lucban, Quezon, Philippines. I was born there and I grew up there but since I was a child, I have always been told by my elders that our family originated from the Ilocos region although I don't know where exactly.

According to our family history, 5 or 7 Quevedo families from the Ilocos migrated to the south (Quezon province)about 2 or 3 generations ago. My father's name was Hermogenes and his father's name was Jacinto. Whether it was Jacinto or his father who migrated to Quezon, I don't know. Because of lack of opportunities, the Quevedo families returned north except for my great grandparents who stayed behind.

I believe all the Quevedos in the Philippines are related, however, we did not descend from the Spanish line. We got our family name from a list the Spaniards told our forefathers to chose from so that our names will be westernized.
