As I continue to research this thread, I've found another Quesnel marriage record in Kaskaskia, Illinois. This one is for a Charles Quesnel married to Marguerite Baron. See here: http://www.randolphcountyillinois.net/sub49.htm This record shows the marriage date as Feb. 16, 1758. My records show a Charles Quesnel marrying Marguerite Baron July 1, 1754 in Cahokia. Despite the apparent discrepancy in the marriage date, I feel confident this is the same couple. Cahokia Illinois, is about 50 miles from Kaskaskia, and it seems likely there were not many parishes in the area at this time. My information for Charles shows him as son of Jean-Baptiste Quesnel and Jeanne Aubuchon. Many of us are ancestors of Jean-Baptiste through his wife Anne-Marie Gourdon, and their son Michel-Antoine. Jean-Baptiste of course, is son of Olivier Quesnel and Catherine Prudhomme. There is also a marriage record for Charles Quesnel and Marie-Louise Gauvrea (Govereau)for March 20, 1762 in Kaskaskia. It seems quite likely that this is the same Charles and he remarried after the death of his first wife. An interesting note: this Marie-Louise Govereau is the daughter of Etienne Govereau and Marie Anne Millet. After Marie's death, Etienne Married Marie-Louise Quesnel in Kaskaskia. This is the person who my original post is on, and she would have been the stepmother of Marie-Louise Govereau, the second wife of Charles Quesnel. Any information or discussion is welcome.
Thanks, Matt
