Dear Diane
I have yet to receive my mailing from Jean-Claude Lalonde, but let me tell you about Elizabeth Charlebois!
She was born Isabelle (aka Elisabeth) Racine dit Beauchesne (in 1814), dof Michael Racine dit Beauchesn and Catherine Roussel. She married Amable Charlebois in 1832 at St Anicet. When he died, she married Jean-Bapte Q* in 1850 and had 5 sons (John, Damian, Anthony, Michael and Evangeliste), and I am pursuing the descendants of the last two. Now the parents of this Jean-Bapte are Jean-Bapte and Josephte Lemay. He went on to marry Julie Jasmin 1n 1833, and to have Stephen, Marcelline and Calixte (plus others). Stephen m Elisabeth Chretian in 1869 at St Anicet, and left his life as a ship captain in Qc to become a farmer in Terrebonne MN in 1882. When Elizabeth died, he married the widow of his half-nephew Damian (one Annie Lemay). It is believed that his father came down with him or near the same time, and changed his name from "Jean-Bapte" to "John Louis", and in 1887, he posed for a photo with Stephen & family, including Marcelline and Calixte, and some one thoughtfully placed a copy in "The History of Red Lake County" Now I ask you, can any modern day soap compete with that?? Oh yes, there is a photo of Stephen and Lemay too.
And it is Stephen's father for whom we seek a parent; possibly, he is the brother of Marthe Q*, ancestor of Jean-Claude Lalonde??
