My Goad mother grew up in Carroll County, Virginia in the early 1900s Their "next-door" (farm) neighbor was a Quesenberry. She said it was always pronounced "CUEsenberry). In early Tennessee, tax lists have these variations- Quisenbery (William), Quesenbury (John and Thomas), Quisenberry (Nicholas), Crusenberry (James, Joseph). When I researched Goads in Greene County, Indiamna,. I found thgese marriages - Aaron Cressenbery married Anna Goad in 1855 Amon Christenberry to Catherinew Goasd in 1850 The Greene County, Indiana Goads are from Ayers Goad, son of Abraham of Grayson County, Virginia. They were in Anderson/Campbell County, Tenn. in ca 1810-20 as were James and Joseph "Crusenberry" mentioned earlier (see tax lists above). Many Phillips were also in that area (Ayers's sister married Thomas Phillips). The Phillips were of Tobias Phillips of Grayson whose grandmother was a Goad. - Ken Notify Administrator about this message?
