Lynn: I recommend you contact Paul LeMasters as he's got loads of information on the Queeners of Campbell County. I know he'll be thrilled to hear from you. In the meantime, I can tell you that William Harrison Queener was the son of John Hogan Queener and Rachel Douglas. He was the brother to my Charles Howard Queener and Mary Emily Queener who married into my Wright famiy.
Wm. Harrison married Mattie Davidson Nov. 25, 1905
I found William age 33 and Mattie age 30 in the 5th Civil dist Campbell Co. 1920 Census ED 48 Sheet 6B --Cleo age 13, Jackson A. age 11 and Gertrude age 9 are in their household. He is a laborer in the coal mines in Newcomb.
I found William age 22 and Mattie age 21 in the 1910 Campbell County census ED 45 sheet 6a last name spelled "quens" or "quenr" which is probably why he didn't show up on the index. Listed in the household were Cleo age 3 and Jackson age 1 yr and what looks like 4 months. They said they had been married 4 years. And, it looks like they had both been married before as there appears to be an M2 in both William and Mattie's lines. John and Rachel Queener (spelled Quener in the census) are in the same area with son Costo.
In the 1900 Census Campbell Co. Ed 37 Sheet 11b District 10 in Newcomb: William was at home with father John and Mother Rachel. John Hogan Queener gave a birthdate of April 1858. Rachel stated her bd was Sept 1858. William stated bd was June 1886. Their last name was Quener *census takers certainly are imaginative in spelling!* John and Rachel had been married 17 years by 1900 and RAchel stated she had had 5 children and 5 were living in 1900.
John Hogan Queener was the son of William Queener and Elizabeth Smith. He was born April 28, 1858 and died June 21st 1924. I believe his death certificate # is 410.
