Hi all...I just returned from a visit to Ireland, including the area of Sligo Co. where many Queenans are known to be from. Although I did not yet find confirmation of my ancester, Patrick Queenan and his father Patric I did locate a lot of info about the Sligo area and also located a number of Queenans buried in a cemetery in Kilglass near to Enniscrone. This area is slightly to the west of Sligo Town along the coast. Although I visited many other "old" cemeteries many were overgrown, unkept and difficult to read the old stones. I am now convinced that there must be current day Queenans located nearby who might be able to help with our research. Hopefully I will be able to connect with one or more. Also, I found the Sligo Genealogical Center to be very helpful. Although not able to search on their site, they will take commissions and do research for you. It does help if you have information about the Parish. I did discover that there are over 700 entries for Queenans so there must have been a number of them over the years. Any further insights in this area would be greatly appreciated and as I learn more I will pass on the info. Sandi Notify Administrator about this message?
