Hi Craig, Glad to hear from you! The Kettwig Historical Society has mentioned that they believe it stems from the 'end corner' of the road, possibly, but one of the first records I found was 'am Quattelbaum' which means 'at the Quattelbaum.' I still have a hunch it may be 'at the stinging nettle-type tree.' Some of you are waiting patiently as I am taking quite a bit of time to get the records on this site. The reason I am slow in getting the records here are these: 1) Some of the historical society's records are probably incorrect according to an expert in the field, and I would prefer to contact them and offer my corrections for discussion, and 2) I have some records they do not have. What I have are only church records, not court records. The steward of the church photocopied from the originals for me in the 1980's, and now one has to copy from microfilm. My set is completely translated into English now. At least five of us have worked on them, with an expert at the end stage. We would prefer to get the approval of the Kettwig Historical Society before sending them out to the world, so that we may remain friends of the historical society and keep in contact with them. Sincerely, Rebecca Hein Notify Administrator about this message?
