It appears that we are all looking for the past but as well, the search is sometimes frustrating. My grandfather August A. Quast came to the US on the Germania, and arrived in New Orleans in 1871. His father was Joh. and wife Marie. August was about 9 years old at that point. They came to New York, Brooklyn, and lived generally thereafter in Suffolk county. His youngest son, Harold, is my father. He eventually moved to the Bellmore and Wantaugh area of the island. If this rings any bells please advise. Thanks, Ken Quast.
