Beverly: William Theron came to live with us about 1944-45 area.At that time my father had 12,000 chickens and Grandpa William insisted on working a full day.He came off a farm in Rochester NY and knew how to work.I rememberhim in Rochester NY when he was still on the farm and will never forget a statement he made.Keep in mind that he was retired at this time.He said, "You people must be tired so we will sleep late tomorrow, I'll reset my alarm to 6am.I think I got up about 10am. I also remember grampa eating peas with a knife.Shomehow he managed to balance 5 or 6 peas on the flat of the knife much like I would use a fork or spoon.Grampa always pronounced the word desert like (dez ert) like in desert storm.Do you realize that Grampa had all his children by his first wife. After she died, he married her sister who also lived with us in 44-45.
I also can recall that their habit was to use a pot in the bedroom and empty it in the morning even thou they were steps away from the bathroom. Could never fiqure that one out.
I also remember Fred Burdette Quance. He lived in Utica and we visited him in Utica several times when I was a teenager. You know his daughter Naomi Quance married a Boehlert and their son Sherwood L. Boehlert is our Congressman.
We have always lived in Camden and my father was never in the newspaper business.
I also remember William T's brother Henry Quance. He lived on Union St. in Camen NY, lived to be over 100 years old at which time was walking downtown every day.
My primary interest in genealogy was to unearth my connection to MANY people in Camden with a Quance connection.I have information on our connection with William and would be glad share. Also have some info on Henry Quance. I do have a list of Joseph Quance's childred.
Regards F. Burdette
P. S. I go by bm Middle name.
