Gilbert Sherman in Williamsfield Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio. p 417 History of Ashtabula Ohio printed in Topeka in 1924. There was a station on the Underground Railroad in the town of Ashtabula which was on Lake Erie. It was the last stop before freedom in Canada across the Lake. It was especially active after the Dred Scot Case in 1850. See "Mrs. Dred Scott" available on iBooks for free. I am searching Gilberts, Palmers, and Shermans. I hope this helps. Merry Christmas
