Sue, I may completely off base, but I am keying off the name William Smith, Quaker, Pa, 1680 time frame, I have ancestors here in Tenn, that were quakers or certainly associated with them. There are many Williams, John's, Robert's, James, Jesse's, Betsy's, Nancy, Sally's,Jane's, etc. with no middle name. The First ancestor I am comfortable with is John Sr. born 1740-50 died Knox Co. Tn.by a 1795 will. I feel he had brothers, James,(Who could read and write, wife named Sarah), Robert, Henry, Any help given would be appreciated. Quakers in the Tuckahoe Creek area, some in Knox Co. Tn, some in Sevier Co. Tn.,(Beals,Bales,McCleary,Manifold,Payne,Smith,Fulkerson,Meek, Roberts,Simpson,Henson,Swaggerty, Mulvaney). The two Quaker churches here were named Polly Ann and Palistine, I have no records just the names.
