Two additional bits from T.E. Perkins, "Marriages in Contentnea Quarterly Meeting of Friends": 1) "Abbe" Cox and her sister Phebe Cox are both shown as marrying in 1804 in Marlborough County SC ("Abbe" to Charles Marine on the date mentioned before, and Phebe on 5-25-1804 to Jesse Marine). Her birthdate is given there as 7-24-1787; Charles', as 6-22-1784; Phebe's, 5-26-1785, and Jesse's, 5-18-1786. Josiah and Judith's marriage date at Rich Square is given as Third Month Sixteenth 1777. Perkins gives a fair amount of additional info on that family. (I was unfamiliar with the Marine name in the northern Wayne County NC area.) 2) Perkins lists Judith Peele's mother as Charity Dickinson (married to Robert Peele 6-1-1750 at Piney Woods). My wife is descended through an antecedent line of the Cox family. We have been mapping land ownership around the Contentnea Meeting House site north of Aycock Swamp in Wayne County up through its laying down in 1856 [with transfer to Nahunta] and sale to H.B. Ballance in 1862. Many Quaker families from the Wayne County area left during the first quarter of the 19th century, mostly to the mid-west. Notify Administrator about this message?
