Quaker Questions

Greetings,

When I first started genealogy several years ago I made contact with someone else researching my direct line who stated one of my Great Great Grandparents were removed or excommunicated(not sure of proper terminology)from the Quakers due to one of them getting married to someone which was not Quaker. At the time I dismissed this information and now, looking back fourteen years, and still unable to find the parents of my Great Great Grandfather. I have begun to wonder if this is the reason why I have not found any records and this has created a few questions in which I seek answers:

Was it a common practice of the Quakers to remove members from the sect if they married someone who was not Quaker?

Where the Quakers comprised of a specific nationality or ethnic group?

Where Quakers present in Tuscarawas or Coshocton Counties of Ohio?

Where their any other religous sects in the areas I mentioned in the last question?

How would someone research a Quaker ancestor?

My Great Great Grandfather was Isaac B. Finney (1832? - 1874) and his wife was Rachel Orr Finney (1835-1885)

Pleasure forgive my ignorance but I got to start somewhere and thank you for all of your efforts as they are greatly appreciated.

My Great Great Grandfather was Isaac B. Finney
