You are rightly proud of your Quaker ancestors who came to America with Penn, to help create the Quaker commonwealth of Pa. The fact that their moral values resisted persecution and persisted for many generations is indeed a source of pride for them as well as the generations leading to you.
You write that I shouldnt think that all people with the same surname - in this case GORSUCH - are related to me. Yet the Gorsuch surname being so exceptional, seems to belong to one family whose members in the US descend from John and Anne (Lovelace) Gorsuch who were born around 1610 in England.
And as for the Gorsuch person who was received to the Quakers by REQUEST :
If indeed this person was a family member (as I have all reasons to suppose) it shows that moral values similar to those of the Society of Friends, are present amidst members of this family, which explains why some (and maybe many of them - this is the subject I am researching) chose to be Quakers.
