I wonder if your grandfather Raymond was the son of Raymond Pyne born 3/11/1864, probably in Moulmein, Burma.
My wife's g-grandfather was William Pyne, born 1858 and died at his home, Strathnaim, Mayamyo, Burma on 10/02/1937. I have worked out he had an elder brother George Edwin b.9/9/1855 who married Jessie Snadden, sister Ellen b.17/11/1861 who married James Thompson and brother Raymond (as above) b.1864. Their parents were George Edwin Pyne and Lydia Pascal. William's wife Almira and two daughters, Mabel and Lydia, emigrated to England in 1947 along with so many others. Mabel was my wife's grandmother. The family seem to have been in Moulmein for some time. We have also heard that the family owned a rubber or teak plantation. There are a number of references to Rangoon. Just to confuse things, I see there was a Raymond Pyne born 27/10/1907 in Moulmein but his parents were Robert George and Ethel Mah Mai. Date looks good for a grandparent but the parents names are wrong. Any interest?
