Since my first message I have found a few other pieces of information.

Sir Thomas Salater Pyne enlisted in the army in 1914. Was part of the the King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry)
8th Battalion,

Was a Captain in 1915 when he was put in charge of fuses at the newly created Ministry of Munitions.

Still searching for more info on his military service.
