James Hamilton Pile (1823 IN - 1899 KS)
Do any Pile/Pyle researchers know whether James Hamilton Pile (1823-1899) was named after a James Hamilton and, if so, which one?James Hamilton Pile, the son of Jacob Pile and Comfort Williams, married Henrietta Euphemia Keller 19 Dec 1847 in Brown Co, IL.
William Pile (abt 1812 - ) married Elizabeth Hamilton on 25 June 1833 in adjacent Schuyler Co, IL. William appears to be the son of Daniel (1790-1871) who was the brother of Jacob. (Is that all correct?) Elizabeth was the daughter of James Hamilton of Brown Co.
This looks like the connection. But, James Hamilton Pile was born in 1823 and the Piles and Hamiltons didn’t move to Illinois until about 1829.Did these families know each other someplace earlier?James Hamilton came to Illinois in 1829 from the point where Adair, Cumberland, and Russell counties meet in Kentucky, but was married in Surry Co, NC in 1804. The Pile family left Orange Co, NC right before 1800, and went to Tennessee and Indiana before going to Illinois around 1829.
Thank you for any insight.
