This is a really long shot, but I'm following a hunch.A family genealogist in my family stated many years ago that she believed that the Thomas's and Pyeatt's intermingled several times over several generations. I have never been able to prove this, but I have a hunch that she is right. One of the things that makes me very suspicious is this Carnahan thing. My Thomas' were in NC about the same time as the Pyeatts. The Thomas' ended up in Itawamba Cty for about 50 yrs prior to and during the Civil War.There was a great propensity of Carnahan's in this family and in the town. Then, two generations later, they're in TX and my great grandfather Carroll Andrew Thomas marries Mattie Leona Pyeatt, in what was apparently an arranged marriage.Mattie was 14 at the time and the youngest child of elderly parents...Carroll Andrew was in his 20's and lived with his parents on a neighboring farm.He brought his bride home to his parents not long after the Civil War.
Lot's of coincidences...but no proof.
