Hi Bob
1851 census shows William Putt Couch aged 1 born Brixham living with his mother Caroline Couch Quebec British Subject - AME aged 20 wife of Master Mariner. PRO ref HO/107/1873
The 1881 census mentions a Willliam Pott Couch (could be spelling mistake) aged 58 born Brixham Pawn Broker living with wife Emma aged 57 and daughter Minnie aged 24. PRO ref RG11 2167
