For anyone interested, George Alfred was on the New York Dutch Line. Here he is in the 1911 Canadian Census:

GEORGE PUTNAM Toronto, Peel
He is 41 born November 1, 1869. His wife May Catherine Shuttleworth is 38 born Aug 1872 and they have Margaret Madeline 5 born May 20, 1906. He is George Alfred Putman the son of Peter James Putman and Jane Secord from Dorchester Elgin East. He was home there in 1881 and I don’t find him in 1901, but he married May in Wellington District on December 26, 1901. The line is Dutch and is Peter James > Henry Putman and Ann Hawn > Henry Putman and Hannah Anguish > Johannes Putman and Gertrude Six > Arent Janse Putman and Elizabeth Akerman > Johannes ‘Jan’ Poutman and Cornelia Brandt.
