In case it is of interest to anyone, there is a portrait of Mr. George A. Putnam posted on deadfred.com:

This picture of Mr. George A. Putnam appears on page 112 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XXVII, no.3, March 1904. Please see that reference for more details. Mr. Putnam was born in Elgin County, Canada in 1869 and spent his early years on his father's dairy farm near Aylmer. He was educated at Aylmer High School and at the Forest City Business College, London. In 1890 he became the secretary to the Agricultural College of the Forest City Business College. He received his degree in the Spring of 1900. He later became superintendent of the Farmers' Institutes for Ontario.
That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
