Bill & Kevin -

Let me put my 2 cents in. Here is Delmar in 1900 as Bill had before:-

1900 DELMAR PUTNAM Bedford, Calhoun County, MI
He is 25 MI MA ME July 1874 (age looks more like 21 born 1879) and has been married 4 years to Gertrude 21 MI MI MI born Apr 1878. They have Willie D. a son 2 MI Nov 1897 and Cleo I. 8/12 Sep 1899. In 1910 the son William is in an orphanage in Grand Rapids, Kent County. It looks like Delmar has remarried and is in Battle Creek, Calhoun County in 1910 as well.

Now, in the "old" days, families some time moved together. I tink the below Melvin is Delmar's brother.

1900 MELVIN PUTNAM Bedford, Calhoun County, MI
He is 33 ME Jan 1867, his wife Alice (Mary Alice Farrah) 29 OH Dec 1870, children Lee 11 MI Dec 1888, Hazel 9 MI Sep 1890 and Vern 11/12 MI Jun 1899. He is Melvin Ward Putnam, and was born in Somerset County, Maine on January 27, 1867. His folks were William Walker and Mahala Putnam of Somerset County, Maine. They were all in Battle Creek in 1880.

Why you ask? Well, Melvin's father William Walker Putnam married a third time to Celia (Leman) before 1880. William died Aug. 27, 1891, and is buried at the Oak Hill Cemetery; Battle Creek, Calhoun County, MI., the same place Delmar was at in 1910, and William D. in 1920.

Now let's look at Delmar in 1910:-

1910 DELMAR PUTMAN Battle Creek, Calhoun County, MI
He is 31 MI and is living with his wife Minnie 23 SD and son Donald NR MI. There are tombstones in Pennfield Calhoun County that has him dying in 1942 and she in 1968. He may well be the Delmar who was married to Gertrude in Bedford, Calhoun County in 1900.

Now we'll get to my point... Since families sometimes travel together, and Delmar married 2nd Minnie and Minnie was born in Southa Dakota - William Walker Putnam's 3rd wife after his death was in 1900, 1910, 1920 in Deadwood, Lawrence County, SD.

It would appear that Delmar, though may not have been listed in 1880, should have been with William & Celia. If so, his listing should be MI ME ME, not MI MA ME.

MAKE SENCE??????
