Thanks Bill!
We could not figure out the orphanage bit....it never crossed my mind that his mom died and he got put off to the orphanage. That makes perfect sense. Also, we had been thinking this dim view he had of mom, well was of his mother. Had to have been his step-mom....or maybe his mom ran off and the dim view really was of his mom..I will look further into that and see if I can find some record of her death...could have been either I guess ...thats why its always good to get another view of the matter....somebody else can just about think of something I am missing.
I had gotten off on Delmar too but came up with what you had, including Minnie, but I had passed on that one, thinking that it wasn't him, but now I am thinking it was him after all.
He was the only grandfather we knew. Ours died before we were born. Grandpa Bill was one of the most interesting men I ever knew. I just wish I had asked more questions when he was living.
Best Regards, Kevin
