I just answered the message about Hiram Putnam by showing that the info they were looking for was on my web site.
If you are looking for information on the various Putnam and Putman families, you may find it on my web site.
There are census reports from the 1790 through 1930 for all States and all Putnam and Putman entries. They include the English Putnams from New England, English Putmans/Putnams from the South, Dutch Putmans from New York, German Putmans from Maryland and others. About 95% have been IDed and lots of info is on the entry.I try and give the line back in the early ones and in later ones where to look the decade before and next decade's census.
If you are looking for and find your guy and have further info or corrections let me know and I'll fix and re-post.
There are special sections on the German and Dutch Putmans and the English Putnams from New England. My Southern English Putman lines starting in Virginia are very well detailed State by State.
