Yet More 1940 Censuses on Putnams/Putmans
Getting there on finding and figuring the 1940 censuses and getting them posted to my website www.BillPutman.com
I have now finished and uploaded the following 1940 censuses and made necessary changes/additions to prior years. Rand Putnam then goes over each one and adds or corrects any of the info so it is pretty accurate. Only tough ones are when a widow or divorced gal shows up by herself or with a kid and no ideas as to the hubby as they weren’t in the 1930 censuses. Only good thing is most are back with their folks, so you get her maiden name for what that’s worth. The other good thing is that there are soooo many family trees on ancestry.com that I have been able to get birth and death dates and lots more that I can add to the entry. In most cases I can figure who is who based on the 1930 and earlier censuses, but getting all that extra ‘personal’ info is wonderful and I know is a great help to others searching the lines.
Anyway, here are the latest states finished.
Connecticut, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Indiana.
I’m on the Southern Putman line, but try and do some of my states and alternate with states that have all the lines represented.
The mid west states have folks on the New England Putnam (English) line, the Southern Putman (English) line, New York Dutch line, Maryland/Pennsylvania German line and the ones directly from Europe like the Puettmanns/Puttmanns from Germany and others.
Next I’ll tackle New Jersey, North Carolina then Texas then Alabama, then Illinois which I will be in up in Glenview with my folks. Rand will be finishing New England with Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
That will leave Northern Mid-West Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. Eastern Pennsylvania and Ohio. Then last but not least the biggies of New York and California.
Wish they all were as nice an easy as Nevada or Hawaii.
PLEASE look at your folks and let me know if I can add or change anything.
