Gold Stream: Orbec, Puderbaugh
Unfortunately don't have time to go into a great deal of detail, but wanted to share that the Pud(t)erbaugh families descend from the family that held Orbec in Normandy during the 11th century. The family migrated to Lorraine, joining cousins there."Or" is French for "gold," whereas "bec" derives from the Norwegian word for "stream."Thus, Orbec means "gold stream," probably referring to the color of Riviere L'Orbquet that flows through that town.Puderbaugh is the Germanic translation of the same meaning.
Orbec lies near Bienfaite and Meulles, which were held by the descendents of Gilbert de Brionne.I suspect the family is a branch of the Crispin family as implied by the close Y-DNA comparisons at ysearch with descendents of Crispin de Bec.
Happy to share more soon, but wanted to at least provide this minimal information for those interested in deep ancestry.
