Sorry for the delay. Thank you for your information. My descent is as follows: my mother is Nell Rose Doss Rives, daughter of Rose Elma Purvis Doss, daughter of John Lewis Purvis, son of George Henderson Purvis and Elizabeth Wilson Scott. I have come no further in research on this line. It may require on sight research in Hardiman County, TN. My mother remembers her mother speaking of Grandma Elizabeth Purvis Scott smoking a corncob pipe. I have info. from another relative in OK that she and George moved to TX with their son, Hugh, but George soon died. She moved back to MS with Hugh and family. I know my ggrandfather, John Lewis Purvis had a twin brother, James M. Purvis. They both were born in Tippah Co., MS, 23JUN1865. Are a descendent of George Purvis as well? Thanks for your help.
