Purvis Family Genealogy Forum

Thank you so much for the info you sent me. This will help me in my search. I am trying to find out the death dates and burial places for Caroline Morrison Purvis (21 yrs. old) and George Purvis (35 years old) from the 1850 census of Jefferson, LA. I have found Caroline Purvis on the 1900 AR census for Phillips County; Helena City; St. Francis township living with Charles Purvis (her son). She is listed as Mother on this census with the age of 72 years old so she was still alive on June 11, 1900 when the census was taken. I think that Caroline and George Purvis may be buried in the City Cemetery at Monroe, LA-as their son, Charles and his wife Leila died in Helena, AR in Phillips County, but were buried in the Monroe City Cemetery at Monroe, LA. They had a daughter named Leila Doyle Purvis(Birth: July 13, 1900). She married Henry Sylvester Stevens. She is buried there close to her parents. My Father tells me that Henry and Leila Doyle Purvis Stevens had one daughter who they named Leila also. He thinks that she may still be living and possibly never married. My Father tells me that she would be in her 70's or 80's. It would be great if she was still living. Ms. Peppers from the Monroe, LA library tells me that their graves are close to the flag pole at the cemetery. I want to bring my Father down to see his Purvis family roots so I would like to have many places to take him, as I took him to Helena, AR and it was one of the best things that I did for him-it was wonderful to see him enjoy remembering his childhood. Any info you have would help me greatly! I anxiously await your repl! Thank you and have a wonderful day!
