I have another Purtell genealogy. William Purtell born abt 1770 in Northern Ireland. He died "quite young." His wife was MaryAnn O'Connell. William is thought to have been a convert to the Catholic faith. He is also said to have lived in Kildare at one time, possibly before marriage. MaryAnn emigrated in late 1844 to Mechanic Settlement, Kings Co., New Brunswick. Children were Mike, Dennis, Patrick, John, Timothy, and Elizabeth.

Mike came to Canada abt 1843. Lived at NiggerBrook, near the Mechanic Settlement. Wife unk.

Dennis married a Scanlon. Lived and died in Fillamunroe. Children from Western Canada, PA and Sussex.

John married Miss Black. Lived in Mechanic. Children from Montana to New Hampshire. 2nd marriage to Kitty Magee.

Patrick married Miss Donovan. Lived in Mechanic. Moved to New Hampshire where he died. Son Dennis in Melrose, MA.

Elizabeth married Timothy O'Leary. Children Timothy married Bgt. O'Connor; John (1842-1927) married Mary O'Connor; Pat married Miss Connors. There is a South Branch connection with this family.

Timothy born Ireland 1807; died Goshen, New Brunswick 1906. Married Hanora Sullivan 1835. Timothy buried in Catholic cemetery in Mechanic. Daughters married John Whalen, John DeCoursey, John Breen. Son James married Catherine Malone 1875.
