My cousin is a part of the Hugh Purser line in Union County, N.C. His mother was a Purser and she married into the Greene line. Frances Austin and Hugh Purser were his great grandparents. The biggest problem was that no one seemed to be able to get past Hugh to his parents. There was an earlier David Purser who was a court clerk in Mecklenburg County, N.C., but nothing of proof ever surfaced. It has been said that Hugh's mother was Anna Mullis, and after his father's death Anna married John "Stud Horse" Rushing. John had a champion horse that he would breed with the neighbors horses for a fee.

Lawrence Greene is eighty seven years old. His father lived to be 100 years old, and his mother was 97 or 98 when she died. She died about six years ago. He knows a lot about the Purser family, and I will tell him about the gentlemen doing Purser research. I have heard him speak of the Purser family going to Georgia and he knows most of their names.

It is nice to see this family posting on this board.
